We recently delivered 2sq m of mulch to Opotiki’s Omarumutu School.
Principal Maria Sheridan says the school has since planted curly kale, lettuce, brocolli and parsley, as well as strawberries, with the kids all pitching in to get the job done. “We use mulch in all our gardens to help keep the moisture in and to enrich the growing environments of all its maara (food from below the ground).”
Omarumutu School is situated on the coast 15km east of Opotiki Township. The school caters for students in Years 1 to 8 in four classrooms.
